What would it be like to start writing again after 24 years?
Likely terribly frightening and exhilarating at the same time.
Why write if I barely have time to read?
Like a lot of folks, I write all the time. Email after email after email. I create Word docs, Power Point presentations and write copy for my company’s social media accounts. It’s technically writing, I guess, but not the type I used to do when in graduate school. I wrote all the time. Terribly (ask my poor friends who I begged to proof-read my work) but I enjoyed it. I graduated from University of Maryland so long ago, Lord Baltimore himself handed me my diploma. So, it’s been a minute.
Substack wants me to identify what community I am looking to build here. Well, I am doing this more for me than anyone else. If someone reads this and enjoys it, wonderful (and surprising). My main goal is to write more, not just once or twice a year. I already do that on my website.
Do I expect to be better at this type of blog than my own website, which I guess is also a blog? Not really. I am turning 50 this year and likely this is some sort of midlife crisis. Which, as mid-life crises go, is was less expensive than a sports car, and less embarrassing than hair-plugs.
If you read this, and liked it, and then see I wrote it a LONG TIME AGO, send me a message and tell me to get writing! I need that motivation that only total strangers on the Internet can provide.
